The reply from Corrado

Hi Anneka,

sorry not to reply earlier, been busy

the checklist idea sounds very valid...

at the mo' my wife is on a job secondment abroad; and when ther is someone else
to check things..everything is fine. I certainly don't have OCD but am
paranoid..like most peeps. a visual checklist is a good idea and is kinda what i
do. I visualise whether the 'puter has been turned off, the doors have been
locked etc..

mail me..it's late but let's chat

best
Corrado

NO....actually I think 3.5 cm. Way better!! (not mm!)

My stamp designs in different sizes

I've had to think about how much these are gonna cost me to produce cos the bigger they are, the more expensive they get. I think I'm gonna go with the 4mm stamps, this way I can keep the detail in them but they'ren't too big either. Then Again, I like the 3.5 mm too. I'll call the English Stamp company tomorrow and see what they think. Wicked.

I went shopping today

this is what I found in one of the shops...instead of writing a shopping list, you just point the arrow at the item you would otherwise add tot he list. You can't take this into the supermarket. I guess it helps you write the list though.

and the woman with all these bags was as OCD as you like!! from what I could see through the bags, it was a huge collection of empty Benson Hedges cigarette packets

An email I sent for some help!!

Hi Corrado,

I was given your email address by Pete Maloney, he said you were willing to answer a couple of questions I have about my project.

I was looking at people who have trouble with memory, some have a diagnosed mediacal condition and others do not. I am hoping to design and make something that will help people to overcome some of their anxieties in everyday life. From speaking to people, I have learnt that some common problems are forgetting whether the house has been locked up, the car has been locked, the lights have been swithced off, the iron turned off, the oven has been turned off.

Pete mentioned you find yourself checking and rechecking whether you have locked up. I was wondering whether you have a method to over come this? An idea I have is to develop a series of stamps, of different symbols representing each of the things people forget. The idea would be to stamp your hand, or a piece of paper as a record of having completed that task. That way you would not have to re-check as you would have evidence that you'd done it. Do you think this would be helpful? If you do, do you think it would be more helpful to have one stamp, to use for everything and then maybe a card with different sections to stamp onto after having completed eveything, OR a series of stamps, one to represent each individual thing you must remember and then each one could be kept next to the thing you always forget to do and you could stamps as you go along?

I hope you understand what I mean, it may seem quite compicated but hopefully, it is quite simple.
Thanky you for your help.
Anneka Sandher.

Rough Sketch Ideas

xamples are...
People going on holiday - passport, tickets, money, toothbrush
Morning routine for children - toilet, breakfast, brush teeth, wash, dress
Night out - phone, wallet, camera, keys, oyster
Men - toilet seat down, anniversaries/b-days/valentines, condoms
Students - bins out, lectures, bills, toilet roll, washing, condoms, ring parents
Housewife - iron off, oven off, car locked, lights out, house locked

I don't know whether I should be concentrating on the original idea (for people who have to check and re-check because they forget) or whether I should concentrate on the giminky thing that I'm enjoying more. The gimiky ones don't have to be so spesific to each individual because most people forget the same things in those situations.

Please help me....or shall I just do what I'm enjoying the most?! The only thing stopping me from actually having both made and packaged is that it would cost a bomb.

The doc....

I spoke to a doctor about my project and she said my idea seemed pretty useful so long as it used it for age related memory loss and didn't restrict it to alzheimers or obsessive compulsive disorder. This is something I already kind of knew but it's good to hear it from someone who knows what they are talking about.

THEN I HAD A BRAIN WAVE!!!!.......

How about making a whole range of stamps for different types of people (not all necessarily very serious! So my fave idea is for men. They are always forgetting stuff!! I'm having trouble what exactly it is that they get all this stick for but I am very aware they forget to put the toilet seat down and aniversaries!

ooooooo.....and students too!
bills....toilet roll....lectures....putting the rubbish out....calling parents

I'm having a bit of a dilemma....

can these stamps really be exciting? Well, should they even be exciting? It needs to be obvious what each one is for so I've decided to design some obvious little images. When they're stamped, they're gonna be given the "universal stamps effect." You know, they will look like a stamp. Am I speaking bollocks?!! Well anyway, I've decided to package the whole thing too...makes things more fun. This way, I could do a whole range of these stamp packages and what separates each one is the way it's packaged (an obv who it's targeted at...housewife/oldie/men......

some stuff to do with nothing

Ideas for images...

Stamps and what?!

I've decided to make some kind of booklet for the stamps to be used in......or maybe a stamps that acts as a template for the other stamps to be tramped into. I want it to be all inclusive....easy to use and not expensive.
